Tragedies

Why do tragedies attract me so?

I shall never know

I shall never know why

I find it easier to pry

Into the darkest corners of one's skin

Making the person and me akin

Akin in thought, akin in sleep

Akin in the way our secrets we keep

Yes, I know, the bright parts lurk around the dark

But it's the tragedy that makes its mark

I'm always in love with a fatal flaw

An undoing, the last straw

It's almost like I'm friends with the pain

That the other one brought when they came

The scars, the wounds, the holes

They're the ones who play the roles

Of all my lovers, of all my sins

Of infiltrating this mind of tin

The sunshine? The good?

They never seem to detect the mood

They seem like big old facades

Desperate attempts to not show the cards

Those cards that life dealt you with all along

The ones that truly spill from your songs

From your lips and your eyes

From the deepest truths of your abyss

Tragedies are wasted on others

But you're not like another

You're a result of all your glory

The shine, the breeze, the nightmares and the gory

You're breathtakingly real

Every part of your story is in your tears

So don't worry

You're my tragedy

My song of pain, and salvation

The only one for me in all of creation

I'm very hollow inside

In the grays and blacks I reside

Come, I welcome you into my paradise

You'll find feelings here of all of your size

We're not meant to be the stars, my love

We're not meant to be the moon or the sun

We are the black of ink

The most crucial link

We make these stars shine

We make the moon sublime

We dissolve in the background, motionless

We stay quiet, emotionless

Our dances are not popular ones

Our songs are not what everyone has sung

Ours is just our world

Tragedies and scars are the stories we're told

Come, come let me take you to the greatest show

We're the time that make all love grow

Come, and live again

Believe again, and try again

Because I love tragedies

And you're the only one that remains
